Scope of works
Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) Level 2 training is undertaken by other similar organisations including the Home Office and provides physical training to staff conducting a public facing role, to be able to de-escalate and defend themselves and withdraw from a conflict situation. The Authorised Professional Practice (APP) is the official source of professional practice for policing and identifies that PPST Level 2 is for individuals in roles who carry/do not PPE who come into contact Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) is required and is accredited and is not suitable for virtual training. This learning was approved by the Commercial Board in August 2025 and is now part of BAU training events for the appropriate ESOC staff. ESOC operational staff are responsible for tackling serious and organised crime. This includes undertaking operational visits with partners (Police, OGDs) to residential and commercial addresses to execute warrants, arrest suspect, search premises, seize evidence, transport evidence and conduct interviews under caution in Custody. Although our staff work under the direction of the Police, there are some occasions where our staff may find that the Police are not always in the immediate vicinity during an operational visit or during an interview under caution Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) Level 2 training is undertaken by other similar organisations including the Home Office and provides physical training to staff conducting a public facing role, to be able to de-escalate and defend themselves and withdraw from a conflict situation. The Authorised Professional Practice (APP) is the official source of professional practice for policing and identifies that PPST Level 2 is for individuals in roles who carry/do not PPE who come into contact with members of the public regardless of rank or role, including those who attend premises for arrests and searches and who interview suspects. The training consists of: Understanding of the National Decision Model (NDM). Use of Force Legislation. Edge Weapon Skills. Communications Skills and Personal Management Skills.
