Scope of works
Liverpool City Council, through Liverpool Virtual School, has awarded a contract for the provision of a clinical psychology-led education support service for children in care, previously looked-after children, and children with a social worker. The service provides psychology-informed workforce development, consultation and strategic support to schools, social care professionals, carers and Virtual School staff. It includes trauma-informed and attachment-aware consultation, workforce training, reflective supervision, professional advice and support for multi-agency working. The service aims to improve educational outcomes by enhancing understanding of the impact of trauma, attachment, adversity and developmental experiences on children's learning, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement in education. It supports the development of inclusive educational practice, effective educational planning and increased workforce capability across the children's workforce. The service is educational and consultative in nature and does not include the provision of clinical assessment, diagnosis, therapy or treatment. Through psychologically informed approaches, the service supports professionals and carers to better understand and respond to the needs of vulnerable children and young people, helping to strengthen collaboration and improve outcomes across education and care settings.
