Scope of works
ITT Number: RDA/ITT/2026/004/NCB Background: The track at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground sustained significant damage during Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017 and was subsequently resurfaced in 2019 as part of the Territory’s recovery efforts to restore the facility for athletic training, competitions, and community use. Since then, the track has been subjected to extensive and continuous use by athletes, sports clubs, schools, and the wider community. Over time, normal wear and tear, together with prolonged exposure to weather conditions, has led to the deterioration of sections of the track surface, creating potential safety concerns for users and affecting the quality of training and athletic performance. Consequently, resurfacing works are now required to restore the track to an acceptable standard, maintain its World Athletics Class 2 certification, enhance user safety, and ensure the continued operation of the facility as a vital recreational and sporting venue. This project therefore aims to resurface the track, extend its service life, and preserve the functionality and value of the facility for the community.
