Scope of works
The University of Calgary requires the acquisition of Agilent Seahorse XF metabolic analysis instrumentation to support ongoing platelet bioenergetics research within the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Platelet Biology Laboratory. The equipment will be used in several active research programs investigating platelet metabolism and thrombotic risk in patient cohorts, including pre-eclampsia, pediatric sickle cell disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. These studies require the ability to evaluate metabolic responses in living platelet samples under controlled experimental conditions and generate reproducible longitudinal data. The University has identified no reasonable alternative that satisfies all of the laboratory's mandatory scientific, technical, and operational requirements concurrently.
