Scope of works
Government of Alberta (GoA) Ministries and Agencies are interested in a broad range of satellite imagery and derivative product offerings. This RFP follows several individual pilot projects, including the use of PlanetScope imagery for Machine Learning (ML) derived wetland inventory in collaboration with Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and the Alberta Biodiversity and Monitoring Institute (ABMI), assessment of very-high resolution satellite ortho and stereo images from a variety of sources to seek opportunities for process improvement and optimization related to forestry operations, forest health, and natural resource management, and a Request for Information (RFI) related to products and services of interest to assist with wildfire preparedness and response. The RFP will describe known products and services of potential interest to GoA Department or Agency business areas as well as business requirements where access to satellite imagery, satellite derivative products, or processing infrastructure may provide opportunities or solutions. This RFP will be used to secure one (1) or more price-list contracts with commercial satellite imagery vendors, and/or forestry or remote sensing consultants who best fit the stated needs. The contracts will be used on an as-needed and as-funded basis for pilot projects, or to augment operational capabilities, with no minimum work guarantee. The number of contracts to be signed will be at the sole discretion of the Province.
